GRAMMAR – Tenses

Tense merupakan perubahan bentuk Kata Kerja (Verb) di dalam suatu kalimat yang didasarkan pada waktu kejadiannya

Ragam bentuk kata kerja tersebut berupa:
* infinitive (V1) => do
* past simple (V2) => did
* past participle (V3) => done
* progressif (Ving) => doing

Pola kalimat dan contoh penggunaanya ditunjukkan sebagai berikut:
1) SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE menyatakan KEBIASAAN/ KEGIATAN BERULANG yang masih berlangsung.
(+)    S + V1/ Vs => Father washes the car every weekend
(-)    S + don’t/ doesn’t + V1 => I do not go to work on Saturday
(?)    Do/ Does + S + V1? => Do you write the report everyday?

2) SIMPLE PAST TENSE menyatakan KEJADIAN yang berlangsung di waktu LAMPAU.
(+)    S + V2 => Father washed the car last weekend
(-)    S + didn’t + V1 => I did not go to work two days ago
(?)    Did + S + V1? => Did you write the report yesterday?

3) PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE menyatakan kejadian yang SEDANG BERLANGSUNG di waktu SEKARANG
(+)    S + am/ is/ are + Ving => Father is washing the car now
(-)    S + am not/ isn’t/ aren’t + Ving => I am not going to work
(?)    Am/ Is/ Are + S + Ving? => Are you writing the report?

4) PAST CONTINUOUS TENSE menyatakan kejadian yang SEDANG BERLANGSUNG di waktu LAMPAU
(+)    S + was/ were + Ving => Father was washing the car when I called
(-)    S + wasn’t/ weren’t + Ving => I was not going to work when they came
(?)    Was/ Were + S + Ving? => Were you writng the report when the electricity came off?

5) PRESENT PERFECT TENSE menyatakan kejadian yang SUDAH BERLANGSUNG di waktu SEKARANG
(+)    S + have/ has + V3 => Father has washed the car
(-)    S + haven’t/ hasn’t + V3 => I have not gone to worked
(?)    Have/ Has + S + V3? => Have you written the report?

6) PAST PERFECT TENSE menyatakan kejadian yang SUDAH BERLANGSUNG di waktu LAMPAU
(+)    S + had + V3 => Father had washed the car when I called
(-)    S + hadn’t + V3 => I had not gone to work when they came
(?)    Had + S + V3? => Had you written the report before the electricty came off?

7) SIMPLE FUTURE TENSE menyatakan kejadian yang AKAN BERLANGSUNG di waktu MENDATANG
(+)    S + will + V1 => Father will wash the car later
(-)    S + won’t + V1 => I won’t go to work tomorrow
(?)    Will + S + V1? => Will you write the report soon?
